Erling Haaland offers fresh injury update after Man City 'problem'

Striker has already missed 12 games this season

Erling Haaland says he is “feeling good” after returning to the Manchester City fold ahead of the season run-in.

The striker missed the FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea as well as the victory at Brighton last week after requesting to come off during City’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola subsequently confirmed Haaland had suffered a muscle injury but the forward managed a 28-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Haaland scored City’s second in a crucial 2-0 victory in the title race, with Arsenal having earlier beaten Tottenham to keep their place at the top of the pile.

Three points at the City Ground mean Guardiola’s side have their destiny in their hands. They boast a game in hand on the Gunners and are on course of an unprecedented fourth consecutive English title.

Still, there is surely little more margin for error from here, with Arsenal showing no signs of relenting.

Having Haaland back will be a boost for City. The former Borussia Dortmund forward may not have hit the record-breaking heights of his first season with the club but remains in contention to win a second consecutive Golden Boot.

Haaland is level with Cole Palmer on 20 goals for the season and is confident he is over the injury issues to have already ruled him out of 12 games thus far.

“I’m ready – I had a bit of a problem and it’s nice to bounce back when we went out to Madrid in the Champions League," he said.

"It’s been scratching inside of me to get back and now I’m back and feeling good. I’m ready to attack the last five finals.”

“It’s nice – exactly like last season. This is maybe the most exciting time to be a footballer.”

City host Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday evening, looking for revenge after losing at Molineux earlier this season.
