Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen appears to have made something of a U-turn on his future with the club.

The Danish international has made only 11 Premier League starts this season, albeit a knee injury hasn’t helped matters.

Eriksen last season started 25 times in the League alone after establishing himself as a key player following a free transfer from Brentford in Erik ten Hag’s first season.

The knee injury and the rapid-fire emergence of Kobbie Mainoo has limited him this season, however.

Last month, the 32-year-old revealed he had held talks with Ten Hag over his role in the squad and spoke openly about not being satisfied about the level of his involvement.

"I have had a conversation with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible, but I am available and need to be available for the team, which I am and always will be,” Eriksen told Tipsbladet.

However, speaking to the same outlet last week, the former Tottenham star claimed he was happy at Old Trafford ahead of the final year of his contract.

“I still have a year left on the United contract, so for now, I’m still a United player. So what will happen this summer, I don’t know,” he said.

“But I am incredibly happy to be here. It’s a great club and I feel good, so we’ll see what happens. But as I said, I have one year left.”
