Renowned thriller writer Anthony Horowitz is back with a brand new series that isn’t quite like anything else on TV.

Following two investigators in their mid-twenties who take on criminality in corporations, it’s about to make its BBC One debut.

Here’s everything you need to know about New Blood.

1) There are three separate cases

This debut series of New Blood features three separate cases investigated by lead characters Rash and Stefan.

The first one spans three episodes, following the repercussions of a drugs trial in India.

2) The entire first case is on iPlayer right now

There’s good news for those who find themselves sucked into the opening instalment – the entire first case is already available to stream in full on iPlayer.

Just a warning though – if you do watch ahead, you’ll have to wait until June 23 to watch Case 2, which will arrive on iPlayer on that date.

3) The leads actors are newcomers – and they’re excellent

It’s unusual to have a crime series led by two young men – TV detectives are always either old and grizzled or facing some kind of recent trauma.

That’s not the case here – Rash and Stefan are both 26 years old, struggling with their London rent, and still trying to prove themselves.

The pair are both played by relative newcomers – Ben Tavassoli is Rash, and Mark Strepan is Stefan.

Rash is a Trainee Detective Constable police officer and a member of a family who left Iran in the wake of the revolution, entering the country on refugee status. He’s following in the footsteps of his late father, who also worked in the police force.

Stefan is a British Citizen who was born in Poland. While his family have now moved back there, he lives in a London flatshare with his Polish mates and works for the Serious Fraud Office.

The pair find themselves thrown together in true ‘buddy-cop’ style – with their opposite personalities and different professions making them a powerful if unconventional match.

4) It’s shot all around London

Londoners will recognise many of the locations, with the show largely shot in the capital. It’s a city in keeping with the show’s young, slick ethos.

“I couldn’t see it taking place anywhere else,” says Horowitz. “London is such an exciting city right now – and we filmed all over the city, getting some amazing backgrounds.”
