AS the US continues its bullish reporting season, Merrill Lynch recorded its second-highest quarterly profit and Bank of America a record profit. Merrill's Q3 net profit rose 50% to $1.04bn (£620m) while Bank of America saw net profit rise to $2.92bn as mortgage fees tripled.
