A Canadian woman who was killed in the London Bridge terror attack has been named as Christine Archibald.

Her family confirmed the news in statement on Sunday night, paying tribute to their "beautiful, loving daughter and sister".

Ms Archibald, who moved from Canada to Europe to be with her fiancé, is the first victim to be identified.

Her family statement read: "We grieve the loss of our beautiful, loving daughter and sister.

“She had room in her heart for everyone and believed strongly that every person was to be valued and respected."

"She lived this belief working in a shelter for the homeless until she moved to Europe to be with her fiancé.

“She would have had no understanding of the callous cruelty that caused her death. Please honour her by making your community a better place.

“Volunteer your time and labour or donate to a homeless shelter. Tell them Chrissy sent you.”

Earlier on Sunday, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau confirmed a Canadian national was among the seven people who were killed in the attack.

He said: "Canada strongly condemns the senseless attack that took place last night in London, United Kingdom, which killed and injured many innocent people.

"I am heartbroken that a Canadian is among those killed.

"We grieve with the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones, and wish all those injured a speedy and full recovery."

Prime Minister Theresa May pledged a new era of clamping down on terrorism after the attack as she declared “enough is enough” and condemned the “evil” of the perpetrators.

Twelve people were arrested as armed police carried out raids in East Ham and Barking on Sunday afternoon after the atrocity on Saturday night.

The horror unfolded when terrorists drove a Renault van at pedestrians on London Bridge before going on a stabbing rampage in Borough Market.

Islamic State has since taken responsibility for the horrific attack.

A French man has also been confirmed as another of the victims tragically killed.
