Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have reached a settlement in their divorce case.

The A-list pair, whose hearing was due to begin on Wednesday, have been embroiled in a bitter battle over the last few days.

They have now reached an agreement, with 30-year-old Heard reportedly settling for close to $10 million, much of which she says she will donate to charity.

Heard is also thought to have dismissed her domestic violence restraining order against the Depp.

A joint statement released by the couple read: "Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have agreed to resolve their divorce proceeding privately. They are issuing this joint statement:

“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love.

“Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm.

“Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”

Heard had accused Depp of being physically violent during their four year relationship – accusations which he strenuously denied.

On Monday, it emerged that Heard had accused Depp of accidently chopping off the tip of his own finger and using the blood to write on a mirror during an argument last March.

In papers filed by the 30-year-old actress as part of her domestic abuse case against the actor, she alleges that he cut off the tip of his finger and then dipped it in blue paint.

Heard alleges that Depp then scrawled words including ‘Billy Bob’ and ‘Easy Amber’ on a mirror in the couple’s bathroom.

Heard filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, on May 23, three days after the death of Depp's mother, Betty Sue.

In papers filed with the court, Heard said Depp, 53, had a "history of drug and alcohol abuse" and had been "verbally and physically abusive" for all of their four-year-relationship.
